Creation Lesson: “God Has the Best Imagination” by Mike CosperPsalm 95, Genesis 1 for Creative Worship Sunday (February 8, 2009)
Music Liturgy (10-15 minutes): [Assumes three leaders/readers]
Reader 1: Today, we’re going to talk about God our Maker. God made everything. He made you and me, and everything else in the universe. Let’s begin our time together listening to God’s word from
Psalm 95: Come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing praise to him.
Reader 2: For the Lord is a great God, a great King above all gods. He holds in his hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains.
Reader 3: The sea belongs to him, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land, too. Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker, for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care.
Reader 1: God made us and takes care of us. That’s a great reason to sing praise to him.

Reader 2: God doesn’t just care about the big things in the world – the mountains and stars and seas – he cares about the little things too. In the book of Luke, Jesus tells us: Five Sparrows are sold for two pennies. Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. In fact, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Isn’t it wonderful to know that he watches and cares for us? Let’s sing our thankfulness for this.

Reader 3: God cares so much for us that even we are lost and far from him, he comes after us. When our sins separated us from God, he sent Jesus to the cross to pay for our sins and to give us the chance to be made right with him. Not only is God our maker, he’s our savior who protects us and forgives our sins.

Reader 1: Let’s pray together. Lord, we thank you for your word. You show us that you’ve made us, that you care for us, and that you’ve gone to amazing lengths to forgive us of our sins when we stray away from you. Thank you for being such a wonderful, imaginative creator, and thank you for the wonderful things in creation. Most of all, Lord, we thank you for Jesus and for making a way for us to be made right with you. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
