Fletcher Lang. You will be missed.

Over the next several weeks, we're going to take some time to introduce the leadership of SojournKids. Our team is in the midst of some big transitions, and there are a number of new faces. Today, I'm going to introduce you to an old face. I've worked with Fletcher Lang on staff now for 2.5 years. He's seen me at my best and worst. There may be no one on earth who knows me better except my wife. When I saw the digital picture for this post, I thought, "I officiated that wedding. I'm really going to miss those two." Yes, Fletcher and Megan Lang are leaving us for Boston, Mass. I'll let him explain a little more of what he's going to be doing there in the interview below. Sending Fletcher is bittersweet for me. Fletcher has become a close friend. He is a young man who loves Jesus, loves his wife, loves to study, and loves to write and preach to kids and youth. It is a pleasure to send him out as a seasoned leader, but he will be missed.

1. What is your current role with SojournKids? My current role is the East Campus SojournKids Director. This means I lead teams of people to implement kids ministry at the East campus. I also write a lot of the curriculum we use with elementary students. However, I'm leaving my job soon, and you can apply to take it here.

2. Tell us a bit about moving to Boston and the role you will have there. Over a year ago, my wife (Megan) and I started to pray for an opportunity to plant a church in Boston, MA. We had no idea that God would answer our prayers so quickly. Six months after we started praying for an opportunity in Boston, I was offered a job with City on a Hill Church in Brookline, MA (just outside of Boston) as their Family Ministry Director and as a church planting resident. Our goal is to serve City on a Hill for several years before possibly being sent out with a group to plant a new church in the same region. We'll also be partnering with North American Mission Board in these endeavors.
3. What is your favorite part of your job? My favorite part of my job is recognizing and raising up leaders in our ministry. I love equipping the people of God to do the work of God.
4. What hopes, dreams, and aspirations do you have? If I don't get to be the lead planter of a church in Boston, I'd like to be George Harrison in a Beatles tribute band.
5. What is your favorite / funniest SojournKids memory? Funniest memory is anything involving Kevin Anglin--former J-Town Kids director. Favorite memory is grilling out and eating steak while devising the SojournKids vision and strategy behind our hotel at the Orange Conference in 2010.
6. What is your favorite flavor of popcorn? Do people eat flavored popcorn? I like chocolate on anything though.
7. What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? What is your favorite Louisville ice cream shop? Cookies and cream. I'm a Comfy Cow fan.
Fletcher and Megan are leaving us at the beginning of May. Take the time below to share a great memory of the Langs and say how much you'll miss them. I know that they'll appreciate it.
