Jacob's Dream (At Home for May 17th)

UncategorizedJared KennedyComment

Happy Mother’s Day! This week’s SojournKids Bible lesson was “Jacob’s Dream” (Genesis 28). Use the questions below to review it with your kids. You can also review the weekly North Star Catechism (below) and monthly SWORD Bible Memory (back).

READ Genesis 28 or Story 18 in the Gospel Story Bible

ASK: Why was Jacob afraid?Jacob was afraid because God visited him in a dream. Jacob had lied to his father and deceived his brother. He may have been afraid that God would punish him.

ASK: What did God show Jacob in his dream?God showed Jacob a stairway to heaven with angels climbing up and down. It showed that God would make a way for people on earth to get to heaven.

ASK: What did Jesus say about the way to heaven? Jesus said, “I am the way.” “You will see heaven opened and angels ascending and descending on the Son of Man” (John 1:51).

Check out the daily devotionals that correspond with this week’s lesson in Long Story Short by Marty Machowski, week 18.  This week’s North Star catechism question is…

31.  If no one can obey God’s law, why did God give it? God gave us the law to show us his goodness, to show us our sin, and to show us we need Jesus.

John 5:39 You study the Scriptures diligently, because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me.
