The Golden Calf (October 11th)

Josh RobertsComment

This week’s SojournKids Bible lesson was “The Golden Calf” (Exodus 32).  Use the questions below to review it with your kids. You can also review the weekly North Star Catechism (below) and monthly SWORD Bible Memory (back).

READ: Exodus 32 or Story 36 in the Gospel Story Bible

MAIN POINT: Where sin is great, God’s grace is greater.

ASK: What was Israel’s idol in this story? A golden calf.

ASK: What is an idol? An idol is anything we worship instead of God.

ASK: Why do people worship idols? We want to see God and control God. But God is bigger and better than anything we can see or control.

Check out the daily devotionals that correspond with this week’s lesson in Long Story Short by Marty Machowski, week 36.  This week’s North Star catechism question is…

Who can obey God’s law? No one but Jesus can obey God’s law perfectly.

Exodus 20:12 Honor your father and your mother; so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving to you.
