Leader 1 & 2: Hi, I'm Mr./Ms. (First name)!

Leader 1: Good morning/evening!! Any time is a good time to be singing praises to God, Amen? Will you sing this worship song with me?

“Sing and Shout” by Matt Redman

(September 6 and 13 ONLY)

Leader 2: Our memory verse this month is Exodus 20:4! Repeat after me:

"You shall not make" = wave your finger “no!”

"for yourself an idol" = cup your hands like you’re forming a snowball

"in the form of anything" = wave your hands in and out as you move them top to bottom, making a “form,” then swiftly cut the air with your R hand in front L to R

"in the heaven above" = point both hands up

"or on the earth beneath" = spread both hands out straight in front

"or in the waters below." = make “waves” with your hands going down.

(September 20 and 27 ONLY)

Leader 2: Our memory verse this month is Exodus 20:12! Repeat after me:

"Honor" = bow down, both arms in front, palms down

"your father" = turn left palm up

"and your mother" = turn right palm up (they echo here)

"so that you may live long" = put palms together, arms straight out to your right, and move your left arm over the top of your head and all the way to the other (left) side (they echo here)

"in the land" = spread your arms out in front, palms up

"the Lord your God" = both hands point up

"is giving to you." = bring open hands down, palms up, extend arms forward like offering a gift

Leader 1: This memory verse is from God’s 10 commandments, which were the rules He has given to His people, including us! He gave us these commands to show us how to OBEY Him, and He also told us that when we OBEY, we are showing Him that we LOVE Him! Jesus said this too: “If you love me, you will obey my commands.” What are some other ways we show God that we love him? [allow for 2-3 answers, then supply this one if it isn’t given:] That’s right! We can show God we love Him by giving Him an offering, a gift to Him from what He has given us. As we sing this next song, you can bring your offering to God!

"Because You First Loved Me" by Doug Plank

Leader 1: As we learn about the Israelites and how God provided for them and protected them, we can think about how God has done the same thing for us! Can you tell me some ways that God has provided for you or protected you? [allow 2-3 answers] Wow! Those are amazing stories about God’s faithfulness! You know, the Israelites had a whole book of songs — 150 of them — to praise and pray to God, just like we do here at Sojourn Kids! This next song is actually taken from one of their songs, so let’s join the Israelites in praising God for protecting & keeping us!

"Cast Your Cares" by Seeds Family Worship

Leader 1: Hey, who can tell me what time it is? (Catechism time!!)

(Play Catechism riff like “Tequila”: G-F-G-F x3, G-F-G “Catechism!”)

Leader 2: Here is our question for this week! I’ll read the question and you will all read the answer together! [If you have an especially active older kid, you can ask them to read the question out loud for everyone to respond to]

All of September - Who can obey God’s law? No one but Jesus can obey God’s law perfectly.

Leader 2: Let’s pray! Bow your heads and fold your hands and close your eyes as we talk to God! Father God, we thank You for sending Jesus to be our Teacher, our Friend, our Brother, and our Savior. Jesus, we praise You for going to cross to die and defeating death for us! Holy Spirit, please fill our hearts today so we can know and love You more. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Instruct all kids to sit down, then dismiss by one age group at a time: Preschool, then Kindergarten, then instruct Elementary to move up for the lesson.
