It’s easy to let the great need and scarcity we see around us in the world cheat us out of having faith. But God wants us to see with spiritual eyes. 1 John 3:1 says, “Look at what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are.” God’s love and provision is more than enough for his children. At Sojourn, we are seeking to live with this counter-cultural mentality. It’s a vision that says who we are and what we can share with one another is not proportional to how much money, time or stuff we have. Instead, God’s abundant provision for us in Christ shapes our view of our neighborhood, our church, and ourselves.
Consider what the apostle Paul writes, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3). Our Lord told us: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33). Because we belong to God, we have everything we need and more. As our church considers God’s abundant grace and our commitment to give, join us by helping your children think about giving as well. This guide contains three family devotionals and four fun activity pages that will help you lead your family to that end. The lessons correspond to material elementary classes at Sojourn Midtown will be covering on November 13th, 20th, and December 4th.
Enjoy these lessons in God's great abundance!
