Jesus Presented at the Temple (Luke 2:22-38)

Josh RobertsComment

Happy Valentine’s Day! This week’s SojournKids Bible lesson was “Jesus Presented at the Temple” (Luke 2:22-38). Use the questions below to review it with your kids. You can also review the weekly North Star Catechism (below) and monthly SWORD Bible Memory (back).

READ: Luke 2:22-38 or Story 81 in the Gospel Story Bible

MAIN POINT: Jesus grew in favor with God and man.

ASK: Why did Mary and Joseph take Jesus to the temple? They went to the temple to offer a sacrifice and present Jesus to the Lord just like the law instructed them to do.

ASK: Why did Simeon say, “My eyes have seen your salvation”? Simeon was a prophet. God showed him that Jesus would grow up, perfectly obey God, and then die on the cross for our salvation.

Check out the daily devotionals that correspond with this week’s lesson in Old Story New by Marty Machowski, week 3.  This week’s North Star catechism question is…

15. What is the gospel? The gospel is the good news that we can enter God’s kingdom through God’s cross by God’s grace

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not be in want.
