We have so much to celebrate in this season, remembering Christ coming to us as a child, identifying himself with us as a man. Our children often experience God in unique and special ways, and our children definitely know how to celebrate and praise God. This morning, our children and several of our children’s volunteers are going to show us all how our kids worship God each Sunday at Sojourn Kids.

LEADER: Good Morning, children! Christmas is only days away, and what do we celebrate at Christmas? We celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. God the Son came down from heaven to be with us. We have a song that tells the story of Jesus’ birth! Will you sing it with me?

O Come Let Us Adore Him (Hillsong Worship)

LEADER: Our memory verse this month is Isaiah 9:6! Can you repeat it after me?

"For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6

"She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." Matthew 1:21

Two thousand years ago, the Israelites waited in anticipation for the coming of their Messiah. We too wait with hope and expectation for Jesus to come again. It’s hard to wait but we do so with confidence that every valley will raised. Let’s sing a song about the hope we have in waiting!

Every Valley (It’s Hard to Wait) (Rain for Roots)

LEADER: Who can tell me what time it is? (Catechism time!) Here is our question for this month. I’ll read the question and you will all read the answer together!

Q: When will Jesus return? A: He is coming soon, but we don’t know when. Come Lord Jesus!

It is so wonderful to worship God together! We worship by singing, and we can also worship by giving. We can give because God has already given so much to us. Everything we have is a good gift from God. If you have an offering today, you can worship God with your offering as the giving baskets are passed around the auditorium. Let’s sing and proclaim the birth of Jesus!

Go Tell It On the Mountain (The Sing Team)

LEADER: Let’s pray! How do we pray? Bow your heads… and fold your hands… and close your eyes… and let’s talk to God right now! Father God, As we prepare for the holidays and gifts to be given, remind us of the gift you gave when you sent your Son from Heaven. Jesus, we praise you for going to the cross to die and take the punishment for our sins. Thank you for giving yourself to us as the greatest Christmas gift! Amen.

LEADER: We as Christians have the MOST reason to rejoice, because we know that GOD in Heaven came down to US on earth so that we would know how much he loves us. When we know how cherished we are by God, we have the freedom to love all of those that God brings to us, no matter what things the world says should separate us. Let’s celebrate this great love of God by greeting our neighbors here with us today!
