This Week in SojournKids: Jesus Ascended to Heaven (Acts 1:4-14)

Josh RobertsComment

We'd love for you to use this short devotional to review this week's story with your kids.

Background:  Jesus instructed the disciples to stay in Jerusalem. He told them that not many days later he would baptize them with the Holy Spirit. When they came together again the disciples wanted to know if Jesus planned to restore the kingdom of Israel and Jesus said that it was not for them to know. He declares that they will receive the power of the Holy Spirit and that they will be his witnesses baptizing new believers. After he said these things Jesus ascended into heaven. The disciples and others went on to worship Jesus and devote themselves to prayer.

Opening/Ice Breaker:  What holiday are we celebrating this week? What are you thankful for?

Read Acts 1:4-14

Questions/Apply it:

  • Where did Jesus tell his disciples to stay?
  • What did Jesus tell his disciples that he was going to baptize them with?
  • How did Jesus ascend into heaven?

Prayer: Lord we thank you for sending your son Jesus to earth to die on a cross for our sins. We thank you for calling us to be your disciples. We pray that we can declare your glory in everything that we do. Amen.
