We'd love for you to use this short devotional to review this week's story with your kids.

Background:  Mary and Joseph were chosen by God to be Jesus’ earthly parents. They were both visited by a messenger of God or through a dream and told that they would parent a child that would go on to rescue the world. Mary and Joseph had their future as parents communicated them in a number of ways. They were surely scared, but they trusted God.

Opening/Ice Breaker:  How would you share a very important message to someone? Would you do it in person?

Read  Matthew 1:18-24; Luke 1:26-56

Questions/Apply it:

  • Who visited Mary while pregnant?
  • How was Joseph informed about the birth of Jesus?
  • How was Mary informed about the birth of Jesus?

Prayer: Lord we thank you for all that you have done for us. We thank you for your word. We thank you for Christmas. We pray that as Christmas approaches we can keep our focus on Christ and what he achieved on the cross. Amen.

REVIEW one of these doctrine memory questions, or the month’s memory verse by having your kids repeat it after you.

Gospel Project Big Picture Question: Why was Jesus born? Jesus was born to rescue us from sin.

Memory Verse: This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 1st John 4:9
