This Week in SojournKids: The Holy Spirit Came (Acts 2:1-4; 22-42)

Josh RobertsComment

We'd love for you to use this short devotional to review this week's story with your kids.

Background:  The time had come for the promise made by Jesus to be fulfilled. At this point Jesus had ascended into heaven. The disciples were all together on the day of Pentecost. Suddenly a mighty wind came through the room. Flaming tongues were on the heads of the disciples. They were able to speak new languages. They shared the message of Jesus to the people there and around three thousand people became Christians.

Opening/Ice Breaker:  Have you ever done anything hard? What made it hard? What helped you to get through it?

Read  Acts 2:1-4; 22-42

Questions/Apply it:

  • Does God keep his promises?
  • Is anything impossible with God?
  • How many people became Christians?

Prayer: Lord we thank you for all that you have done for us. We thank you for your word. Just like the apostles we have been called to make disciples. We pray that we can be reminded of that on a daily basis. Amen.

REVIEW one of these doctrine memory questions, or the month’s memory verse by having your kids repeat it after you.

Gospel Project Big Picture Question: What does the Holy Spirit do? The Holy Spirit helps Christians follow Jesus.

Memory Verse: It is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Philippians 2:13
