We'd love for you to use this short devotional to review this week's story with your kids.
Background: As Jesus continued his ministry he taught and healed inside a house. The crowd that gathered was very large. People were standing outside just to hear and see Jesus. There was a man who could not walk and he had four friends. The four friends tried to bring him to Jesus, but the crowd was too large to get in. The men decided to go to the roof, cut a hole, and lower their friend down to Jesus. As soon as Jesus saw the man he forgave his sins and told the man to rise and take up his bed. The man was healed, but the Pharisees did not like what Jesus was doing.
Opening/Ice Breaker: Are you afraid of heights? How would you feel if your friends lowered you down from the ceiling? Would you trust them not to drop you? What did Jesus heal people from? Jesus healed people from sickness, sin, and death.

Prayer: God we thank you for your son Jesus. We thank you for his ministry on earth. Lord we pray that we could have the faith of the four friends and that we would love our own friends in that manner. We thank you for loving us enough to send your son to die for our sins. Amen.
