This Week in SojournKids: Jesus Raised Lazarus (John 11:1-7, 17-44)

Parents,

We'd love for you to use this short devotional to review this week's story with your kids.

Background: In this week’s story Mary and Martha’s brother Lazarus dies. Jesus was informed of his sickness before he died and Jesus explained that the illness was intended to glorify God. Jesus went back to Judea and when he arrived Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days. Mary and Martha display great faith in what God can accomplish through Jesus. This is also the passage of scripture where Jesus displays true human emotion and he cries about the death of Lazarus, whom he loved. Jesus is taken to the tomb and asks that the stone be removed from the tomb. He commands Lazarus to come out and he does. Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead.

Opening/Ice Breaker:  Have you ever been late? How did it make you feel? Was it fun? What did Jesus heal people from? Jesus healed people from sickness, sin, and death.
