January Music Liturgy

Jared KennedyComment

Leader 1 and 2: Good morning/evening! I'm Mr./Ms. (First name)!

Leader 1: The Bible tells us that followers of Jesus are called to make his good news known to the whole world. Let’s sing a song about the special job we have to tell the world about God’s amazing love.

Leader 2: Our memory verse this month is Acts 1:8. Can you repeat it after me?

"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my
witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the
earth" (Acts 1:8).

Leader 1: The word “fulfill” means to accomplish or complete -- to completely finish
something. Do you know that great feeling you get when you’ve finished reading an entire book or are done with your homework and get to play outside? Do you know the feeling when you finish a big project like putting a puzzle together or building a lego set?

That’s the joy God feels about completing his work in us. The Bible says we are God’s workmanship and he wants us to be more and more like Jesus. He works in us through the power of the Holy Spirit to finish what he started when he first saved us. Praise God for his work!

Leader 2: We praise God because He is working in us and because he gives us the
strength we need to love him and serve him. Let’s sing a song about how we can do
anything through Christ working in us!

Leader 1: It is so wonderful to sing about God together! We worship by singing, and we can also worship by giving. We can give because God has already given so much to us. Everything we have is a good gift from God. If you have an offering today, please bring it to the offering box during the next song.

Leader 2: The next song is about the Trinity – about how God is three in one.

Leader 1: Hey, who can tell me what time it is? Kids respond: It's catechism time!!
(Play the catechism riff like “Tequila”: G-F- G-F x3, G-F- G. Kids shout “Catechism!” at the end.)

Leader 2: Here is our question for this month. I’ll read the question and you will all read the answer together!

Question: How do people hear about Jesus?
Answer: God uses Christians to tell people about Jesus so they may repent and
be saved.

Leader 2: Let’s pray! Bow your heads, fold your hands, and
close your eyes. Let’s talk to God right now!

Father God, thank you for sending Jesus to earth. You created everything. You are king over everything. But you loved us enough to become a little baby. Jesus, we praise you for going to the cross to die for our sins. Thank you for giving yourself to us as the greatest Christmas gift! Please help us, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to tell the world about your great news, that many might come to know you and be saved. Amen.
