The Promised Land and Jericho (Joshua 2-4;6)

Josh RobertsComment

Below are some devotional helps to use throughout the week.  We'd love for you to use some or even all of these to review this week's story with your kids.

Dinner Time (Deep Dive)

READ the story together.  (Joshua 2-4;6)

ASK some questions about the story.

  • Who were the characters? (Rahab, Joshua, God, and His People.)

  • What are the main story beats? (Rahab hides the spies; God remembers the 12 tribes; The Israelites conquered Jericho.)

  • What’s the main point? (God fought for His people and let them into the promised land.)

CONNECT it to the family.

  • As a family we are called to love and protect one another. We have a great example of that in today’s story. God protected his people and did whatever it took.

PRAY together.

God, we thank you for your love for us. We thank you for protection and provision. Amen.

Drive Time (Quick Refresh)

ASK what story we’ve been studying this week. (The Promised Land and Jericho)

  • See what they remember from the story – details, main points, any take away they have, etc.

REMIND them of the main point.

  • God told His people how to build the tabernacle where He would dwell with them.

Bedtime (Soul Work)

ASK how they feel about what we’ve been learning about this week.

  • What does this story teach about God or the Gospel?

  • How did God show he was faithful in this week’s story?

  • Whom can we trust?

ENCOURAGE them about the truth of God’s promise.

  • God loves us and will do whatever it takes to protect us.

RELATE to them.

  • God loves you and will protect you and be with you all your days.

PRAY for them before they go to sleep.

Breakfast Time (Daily Encouragement)

ENCOURAGE them to trust God’s promise today.

  • Be encouraged that God will be with you today – when things are easy and when things are hard!

PRAY for them before you drop them off to start their day.

REVIEW one of these doctrine memory questions, or the month’s memory verse by having your kids repeat it after you.

Gospel Project Big Picture Question: Whom can we trust? We can trust God to take care of us.

Memory Verse: Joshua 1:9 - “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
